Riding, Riding, Riding

We have been working on riding all week. We have a pretty good routine, grooming, pick feet, saddle up, lunge, do up-high work until he is OK with it, then do mounting. I have had someone leading us off every day so far, just so we don't have any problems, then we go solo after a while. He is riding pretty well now, but I am still cautious, we have done walk, trot, fig 8, serpentines, trotting poles, cones and circles. I am about ready to start venturing outside. He still gets a little squirrely now and then, but today I figured out that it mostly happens when my foot brushes his shoulder, so we will work on that.

He is ground tying well, I can groom and saddle him without tying him up, and today in the arena I was able to park him and walk all over and around without him moving. I was also able to pick up his feet today out in the arena without tying him up. I have been hosing him off every day, which he is doing well with, and putting hoof conditioner on his feet. I think we will work on more obstacles, ponying, and desensitizing to objects later in the week.

Oh! Legacy is haltered and grooming now and starting to lead!! Yay for Legacy!!!
